Serpent Mounds ParkSerpent Mounds Park is a wonderful place to spend the day. The day-use area offers sand beaches for swimming and relaxation, a ballfield, a horse shoe pit, a picnic shelter, picnic tables, and a spectacular view of Rice Lake. (click here to view panorama) The picnic shelter and group activity area can be rented for special occasions and group camping.

Located near the Serpent Mounds Historic Site is the Interpretative Cultural Centre. It is equipped with informative displays about the area's aboriginal and natural history and has an area for indoor activities, such as craft workshops. Also located within the Cultural Centre is a Gift Boutique and Store featuring original paintings from local Aboriginal artists, gift cards, unique t-shirts, gifts, souvenirs and camping supplies. Our friendly staff can provide information about all of the park's attractions and services. They offer scheduled tours of the Serpent Mounds, campfire programs and activities especially for children. Staff are also knowledgeable about places of interest within the Kawartha Lakes region.

Hiawatha First Nation (10 minutes west of park), has a wonderful store, gas bar and family restaurant located in Hiawatha. They boast great food, low prices and excellent service. Drop in for a visit on your way to Serpent Mounds Park or on your way home. Everyone is welcome! If you feel like doing more extensive shopping, the village of Keene and the city of Peterborough are close by. There you will find many quaint shops and gift stores, as well as shopping malls, restaurants, grocery stores and boat rental shops. The area also offers many other forms of entertainment, such as movie theaters, a motor speedway, harness racing, farmers' markets, auctions and the Slots at Kawartha Downs.
